Our History

Advanced Pediatric Care, Inc. began as a home health agency in 1993 and was known as Advanced Patient Care. Our owner Diane Shaffer-Bass, is a licensed Audiologist who began as an owner of a reputable professional Audiology and Speech Pathology Center in 1983. It was Shaffer Hearing and Speech Center. We sold hearing aids but we provided many other services. Diane over the years has always had a special place in her heart for persons who happen to have a disability.

Thus Advanced Patient Care was born in 1993 as a Medicare/Medicaid home health agency working with adults and children to enhance their ability to stay at home, out of hospitals, institutions, and nursing homes. During this time we had a Northeast Texas branch office located in Jefferson. Our goal was to give the best care while preserving the dignity of the individual.

Our management team has always had a rehabilitation focus as we were made up of an Audiologist, Speech Therapist, Registered Nurse, and Licensed Masters Social Worker. This team made a decision in 1998 to discharge our Medicare clients and expand our Pediatric department. A name change followed which better reflected our service and Advanced Pediatric Care was established.

Advanced Pediatric Care has developed into a highly specialized Pediatric care and treatment team. We diligently strive to be understanding, compassionate while working within the family unit to allow the Infants, Children and Adolescents and Young Adults we serve to reach their highest potential.
